The federal Department of Homeland Security has declared gun stores and shooting ranges to be part of our nationwide “essential critical infrastructure workforce” in sharp contradiction to what many localities are doing in shutting down gun stores and ranges. For example, Nevada’s shutdown has temporarily closed the world-famous Front Sight Firearms Training Institute, by far the world’s largest shooting school. Los Angeles shut down all gun stores. San Luis Obispo County tried to do the same thing but our SLO Sheriff countered the move.
DHS guidelines add the following:
Workers supporting the operation of firearm or ammunition product manufacturers, retailers, importers, distributors, and shooting ranges.
Of course, trust & estate law firms that offer concealed carry training are already deemed essential business to the extent they provide legally-mandated services. But who would attend training in person and why would we spread germs around when we can keep your skills fresh with safe dry practice via webcam?
