Fire at will:
ab 262

[UPDATE: Gov. Noisome signed AB 262 into law on 9/22/24.]

AB 262 is an innocuous sounding bill providing for the study of safety regulations relating to children’s camps.

Yet given California’s recent history of attacking gun culture, we can expect this bill to result in curtailment of firearm training options for children in California.

Of course I always urge families to be self-sufficient with training, incorporating it into their estate plans, but it is always good to have options and young parents can benefit from groups in learning how to train kids safely.

CRPA sent out an email on August 13, pointing out that while AB 262 is a “zombie” bill that keeps getting introduced year after year, it was pretty much dead for this year.

Well, looks like the rumors of AB 262’s death were greatly exaggerated by CRPA.

The bill was passed by both Senate and Assembly, sent to engrossing and enrolling on August 27, and actually enrolled on August 29.

That means Gov. Noisome can sign it!
