[UPDATE AND CORRECTION: The article linked below is incorrect — due to some very unclear media accounts. Apparently there was an armed white guy who failed to respond, but story here indicates it was another armed citizen, who happens to be BLACK, that actually engaged the attacker.]
The national media has picked up on this story because the killer, George Bush, is racist. But they are ignoring the fact that a white civilian with a concealed handgun permit stopped the attack. Both the people murdered at the Koger — Maurice Stallard, 69, and Vickie Jones, 67 — were black. Bush had apparently tried to carry out an attack at a black church before choosing to shoot up the Kroger. Apparently, he was trying to kill as many blacks as possible, and many more could have been killed if not for the concealed handgun permit holder. When confronted by the concealed handgun permit holder, Bush is said to have told the permit holder: “Don’t shoot me. I won’t shoot you. Whites don’t shoot whites.” Immediately after exchanging shots with the permit holder, Bush left the grocery store parking lot.
This story could easily have been played as a white man with a concealed handgun permit saving blacks from a racist killer.
