Schrier immediately dialed 911 while Bounds rushed to the car along with an unidentified man from another vehicle who stopped to help.
“We didn’t see any other cars around so we assumed no one called 911,” Schrier said. “We didn’t know if it was going to explode or not.”
“As I got closer I could see the flames getting closer and closer to the main part of the car and I heard someone screaming,” Bounds said.
After unsuccessfully trying to break the car’s sunroof with a small rock, Bounds grabbed a larger one and gave it to the unidentified man, who broke through the glass.
