Fire at will:

After correcting massive errors found in FBI reports, Dr John Lott reports that at least 35% of mass shootings from 2014 through 2023 were stopped by private armed citizens.

(I’m intentionally using the term “mass shooting” even though the studies, including Dr Lott’s, confusingly focus on “active shooters”, because I’m an active shooter and as an active shooter i think the focus should be on mass shootings. Seriously, there needs to be a more standard approach to determining the likely intent of mass shooting as the psychology and resolution are totally distinct from the more private crimes.)

The percentage is even higher, at least 51.5%, if gun free zones are excluded from analysis.

This is no surprise for experienced gun bloggers. FBI data has been sloppy for years.

For example, the famous case of Jack White‘s heroism at a Texas church a few years ago was not included in FBI stats, even though White was not a security professional.
