In recounting defensive gun uses, we are remiss if we fail to mention the many crimes that go unreported or under-reported simply because the defensive gun use (even the simply passive act of carrying by an unknown hypothetical carrier) was successful in eliminating or reducing the damage.

In his latest book, The War on Guns: Arming Yourself Against Gun Control Lies, John R. Lott Jr. points shows that from 1950 to 2010, not one mass public shooting took place in an area where citizens could arm themselves in self-defense.
