Defensive? Not so clear. See the way the perp keeps inching toward the armed citizen? I would have reacted much more severely to that. (In my own DGU in 2009, my reaction to the same conduct was to throw my phone down, stop withdrawing, and adopt a much more aggressive demeanor. He is much too close already.) All of this hinges on whether initial presentation is justified, and of course what state you are in.
